Former IPS officer Kiran Bedi has extended support to BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, because she wants to vote for “a party that can provide a stable, accountable and inclusive government.”
Ms. Bedi, who has been in the forefront of the Jan Lokpal movement spearheaded by anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare, has however clarified that she does not want to join the BJP or any other political party.
On her extending support to Mr. Modi, Ms. Bedi said the Congress was responsible for the corruption and scams in the country and hence she would not vote for that party; in the given scenario, the BJP had emerged as the only alternative.
In an oblique reference to the Aam Aadmi Party, Ms. Bedi said she did not want to extend support to a political outfit that had the tacit support of the Congress.
Posting her view on Twitter, she said: “For me it’s India First! Stable, Well Governed, Administered, Accountable and Inclusive. As an independent voter, my vote is for NaMo.”
